Barbara Johnson-Stern
On a personal note, I grew up in Englewood, CO and attended Cherry Creek High school and Colorado State University. After graduating from college, I lived and worked in Manhattan for several years, but returned to Colorado following law school to be close to my nieces and nephews. I met my husband white water kayaking, a sport we now enjoy together. Kayaking is the perfect activity for me as it demands my total attention, whether I'm at the white water park in Golden or headed down the Shoshone run on the Colorado River. Kayaking offers me a great balance against a demanding job.
On a professional note - I am proud to be a lawyer.
It occurred to me early in law school that many clients would not really know if they were being served well by an attorney or not. As a result, this would leave them vulnerable to bad representation. Upon that realization, it became of primary importance to me to be a lawyer who served with integrity and openness, and to prepare myself to the best of my ability to provide exceptional representation to every single one of my clients. As a result, I worked exceptionally hard in law school at Ohio Northern Law School, and graduated fourth in my class. While in law school, I also served as an Associate Editor of our law review, and then Editor in Chief. Additionally, I participated in several moot court competitions, and took second place in an appellate argument competition after arguing in front of state appellate judges. I feel that all of these experiences helped to prepare me to serve my clients exceptionally well.
Although nine years have now passed since I graduated from law school, I continue to strive toward providing knowledgeable and effective representation to my clients. I fundamentally believe that to do this, I must continue to learn. I learn not only through working cases and attending continuing legal educational classes, but also through interaction and involvement in the community. A few years ago I began increasing my participation in the Arapahoe County Bar Association, and in May of 2006, I was elected to serve for two years as a Board Member of the Arapahoe County Bar Association. Last year I served as the co-chair to the Continuing Legal Education committee where I worked to bring several CLEs to our members, and have been invited back to do the same this year. While volunteering with the bar associations, I have the opportunity to meet, interact and develop relationships with, and learn from the members of the profession on a regular basis. At The Harris Law Firm, I currently present a monthly seminar to educate prospective clients about the divorce process in Colorado. All of this helps me, in countless ways, to help you meet your goals.
I take my responsibility to my clients very seriously, and it is extremely important to me that I provide the best representation I can to each and every one of my clients. As each client has different goals as well as different expectations from me, I pride myself on adapting my work and communication style to each case and my client's individual needs, desires, and expectations. Fundamentally and without exception, each and every one of my clients will receive my very best!
I love being a lawyer, and I would be proud to be yours.
