Parker Wilson, Psy.D.
At the Awakened Mind Institute (www.amidenver.com), Dr. Parker Wilson specializes in the treatment of psychological trauma, addiction and compulsion, grief/loss, depression, and family and couple's issues. Using mindfulness based cognitive psychotherapy, in its various forms, Dr. Wilson has worked with thousands of people who have been victimized by crime, victimized by childhood abuse, become addicted to alcohol and substances, are battling depression and grief, are grappling with intimacy and sexual issues, or are just struggling to stay together as a person, a couple, or a family.
As a teacher, Dr. Wilson currently lectures on psychology and psychotherapy at the University of Colorado at Denver; he is also an adjunct faculty member in psychology and counseling for Argosy University at Denver.
In addition to his training and experience as a doctor of clinical psychology, Parker Wilson has received extensive, ongoing, and personal training in mindfulness and insight meditation techniques from some of the most eminent Eastern and Western meditators and teachers, including: Dr. B Alan Wallace, Dr. Marv Treiger, Ani Thubten Chodron, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Dawa, and Khen Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel. Dr. Wilson has also been fortunate enough to receive meditation instructions from both His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hahn on three occasions.
