My degree is a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) and I am licensed in the State of Colorado. I became a therapist in 1974 and have been in full time private practice in the same location since 1982.

Clinically my background is very eclectic drawing largely from psychoanalytic, (Freud and Jung), humanistic psychology and client centered therapies. A key to any therapy being successful is the process itself which in addition to the actual sessions involves homework, reading, exercise, and Gestalting. This process is both cognitive and affective and deals with the unconscious, family of origin dynamics, life script, the shadow side of the personality, chaos, Eros, and ego structure. Generally one needs to meet for one session (1 hour) per week in order to achieve success.

Working with adults is the majority of my practice, either individually and/or as couples. Areas of common focus are depression, anxiety, relationships, grieving, communication, forgiveness, decision making, aging, and self destructive behaviors. Addictions, alcoholism, co-dependency and being an Adult Child of an Alcoholic are often included in the healing process. Very often couples come into therapy confused and ambivalent about their relationship. It is appropriate to use the process to better understand why the relationship is not healthy and to decide how to change and improve it or to terminate it with dignity. Divorce therapy can include other family members as well.

Many couples/individuals later regret that they did not take the time to integrate therapy and introspection into their relationship.
