Judge Angela R. Arkin (Retired)

The Honorable Angela R. Arkin (Ret.) served as a District Court Judge in the 18th Judicial District from 2002 through 2015. She began her judicial career in August 2000 by serving two years as a District Court Magistrate in Arapahoe County. Judge Arkin served as a District Judge in all four counties in the District, with mixed dockets of criminal, civil, probate, mental health, juvenile and domestic cases, with a 100% Domestic Relations (DR) docket for her final 7 years.

Angela R. Arkin is now retired from the Domestic Relations (DR) bench and working at The Harris Law Firm as the Director of The Self-Represented Resource Center™ (SRRC). The SRRC was created by Angela R. Arkin and Rich Harris to provide unbundled legal services to individuals who are handling their legal matters without attorney representation. Judge Arkin is now also providing the following services, on a case-by-case basis: Evaluative Mediation, Mediation/Arbitration, ENA/ENE, Arbitration, Private Judge appointed under C.R.S. 13-3-111 (C.R.C.P. 122), Master appointed under C.R.S. 13-1-131, and Consulting Expert under C.R.C.P. 26 (b)(3).

Angela R. Arkin is a 1983 graduate of Emory Law School, and is licensed in Colorado, Georgia and the District of Columbia. She has been a frequent lecturer and author in the areas of family law, DNA evidence, and jurisdiction. She was a member of the committee that drafted and helped enact Colorado’s Parental Responsibility statute, and was actively involved in the legislative effort to pass the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act.

Angela R. Arkin is the Secretary of the CBA Judicial Liaison Section, is a Co-Editor, Author and Reviser of the CBA Bench Bar Book on Domestic Relations, has been appointed by the Governor to the Colorado Child Support Commission, and is on the Colorado AFCC Board of Directors, amongst many other professional activities. Additionally, she is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University Of Denver College Of Law, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
