Addressing Vacation Time with Your Kids
When establishing a Parenting Plan, divorcing spouses should remember to draft an agreement that addresses additional parenting time designated specifically for vacations. Parenting time for vacationing supersedes regular parenting time and the duration is very often for several weeks during the children's vacations from school. This designated time may be scheduled by both parents, but all plans must be clearly communicated to avoid any issues. For example, the Parenting Plan may state that the parents will inform each other of their vacation plans no later than April 30th of each year. If the parents both want the same vacation dates, then they may agree that the even years that the mother's vacation plans have priority and on odd years the father has priority.
