Colorado Divorce: Accessing Your Divorce Records
The Office of the State Registrar of Vital Statistics operates a web site where the general public may access information regarding marriages and divorces. Colorado treats these records as confidential because of identity theft concerns so you must apply to the State Vital Records office for official Marriage or Divorce verification. The application lists eligible recipients of the record, which includes relatives and organizations with a f …
Before you name your child, take a look at this list!
This week the Pope declared war on parents naming babies after celebrities, fruit or popular sports cars. In an address to parents, the ever-progressive pontiff pleaded with worshipers to 'give your children names that are in the Christian calendar'. So Apple, Brooklyn and Ferrari are out, Francisco and Giulia are in. But Benedict's not the only authority figure to stamp down on one of the sillier by-products of celebrity culture. The following names have all been banned around the world for reasons of taste, decency or just plain daftness. 1) Talula Does The Hula …

Cololrado Custody: Be a Better Co-Parent in 2012!
1. Try not to criticize your child's other parent. You and your ex will never parent your children in the same way, so at some point you must accept this fact and move on. Let your kids love and respect their other parent, and have a meaningful relationship with them. Remember that a less than adequate spouse can often be a very good parent. 3. Be the parent you …

The Recession and Your Colorado Divorce
Recession and Divorce Thirty-eight percent of couples considering divorce or separation have postponed those plans due to the recession, according to a study released earlier this year by the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia. Those couples who choose to go through with divorces are facing new financial challenges, such as determining what to do with upside-down mortgages or establishing individual credit in a tougher regulatory environment. Here a …

Dividing Debt After a Colorado Divorce
According to ex-bankruptcy judge and lawyer R. Glen Ayers, "Most divorce decrees allocate liabilities for pre-divorce obligations between the former spouses. So, the husband agrees or is ordered to pay certain credit card obligations and similar debts. The wife may agree or be ordered to pay a car note or some other debts. While the divorce decree may allocate responsibility between the spouses, that decree does not release either spouse from the obligation to the creditor." In other words, while your decree may specify who is to pay what, it does not release either of you from your …
