Dallas Man Seeks to Dissolve a Same Sex Marriage
In what could further define the rights of same sex couples in the U.S, a man in Dallas has filed for divorce from his husband and long term partner. Married in Massachusettes in 2006, the couple later returned to Texas. On Wednesday, one of the partners who cited irreconcilable differences, asked a state district court to void the union. Texas statues and the state constition prohibit same sex marriages or civil unions, but Article 1V, Section 1 of the US Constitution states that recognize contracts from other states. In contravention, the federal Defense of Marriage Act recognizes only marriages between a man and a woman. More on this issue as the case evolves.
