How We View the American Family
New research on this topic is contained in a book length study by Brian Powell,an Indiana University sociologist, called "Counted Out; Same Sex Relations and American's Definition of Family." Between 2003 and 2010, three surveys by Powell and his team showed a significant shift toward counting same-sex couples with children as family, from 54% of respondents in 2003 to 68% in 2010. In all, more than 2300 people were surveyed.
