DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Court of Appeals has ruled that three siblings can sue Adams County social workers over their alleged failure to protect them from abuse.

The children were preteens when they told adoptive parents they were severely abused in the home of their biological mother and later in foster care.

According to the Denver Post, the adoptive parents lost a lawsuit against Adams County over claims that social workers had a duty to disclose the children's background.

Thursday's ruling allows lawyers for the children to proceed with claims that the children had a right to be free from harm and county workers failed to protect them.
