When Do I Start Dating Again?

Divorce is painful, and some people need more time to recover than others. After obtaining your final divorce decree, allow yourself at least six to twelve months to adjust to the fact that you are single.  Rather than beginning to date right away, use this time to adjust to your newly single status and get together with friends and family, take a class, go on a weekend getaway, get into therapy, and take time to discover the new you. When you grieved the loss of your marriage, and regained your self-confidence, your optimistic attitude about your future will signal that you are to begin dating again.
