Maureen McAllister

She/Her/Hers
Certified Senior Paralegal

Maureen McAllister is a Paralegal at The Harris Law Firm in Colorado. She has long had an interest in the law and legal justice systems, so becoming a well-rounded paralegal was an easy decision for her. Our entire team is thankful for her extensive experience and compassionate approach to her work, which is a welcome benefit to both our attorneys and clients. Her respectful and non-judgmental approach helps clients feel at ease during a challenging time in their lives.

Before joining The Harris Law Firm, Maureen worked for a general practice firm in Minnesota, where she learned the ins and outs of multiple areas of law. Next, she transitioned to work as a Guardian Ad Litem for 9 years; in this role, she advocated for the best interests of children in Family and Juvenile Courts. While the work was challenging, it cemented her interest and knowledge in family law, an area that allows her to help make direct and important impacts on clients’ lives.

In her time with our family law firm, Maureen has proven that there’s no casework too complicated or intense for her. She exhibits a calm demeanor even under pressure and is an efficient multitasker who can prepare any family law case from the onset of litigation through settlement or trial. With a keen eye and strong skills for writing, editing, and analyzing data with an attention for detail, she is also a must-have team member for any case that requires more than a bit of technical understanding and strategizing.

Proud to give back to her community, Maureen has volunteered with Meals on Wheels to complete food deliveries and socialize with the elderly who don’t get many family visitors. She also likes to walk shelter dogs who are waiting to be adopted, and assist with pro bono paralegal work when she can.

Maureen grew up in Alaska and Minnesota. Eager to enjoy a warmer summer, she decided to move to Arizona, where she obtained her paralegal degree and ABA certification from Arizona State University. Next, she moved to California, where she met her husband, but she was not done with her unofficial cross-country journey yet. After a ski trip to various resorts in Colorado, Maureen and her husband fell in love with Colorado and decided to move there to raise their family. When she misses the warmer days, though, she can always enjoy a resort condo getaway she owns on an island in Belize.

For fun, Maureen likes to kayak and snorkel around the barrier reef of Belize when spending time there. She enjoys free time by walking her family’s four dogs, playing tennis, and bicycling, as well as cooking for and entertaining f for family and friends. Maureen has started to write a few children’s books and a fiction story for middle schoolers, which her husband illustrates. She enjoys planning travel and endeavors to experience unique destinations and cultures.
