Jennifer Workman

Estate, Life and Legacy Division
She/Her/Hers

Jennifer Workman is an experienced attorney at The Harris Law Firm with over a decade of experience practicing family law and estate planning. A Colorado native and a child of divorce, her connection to family law began at a young age. That deep and personal understanding of how divorce can affect a child and family led her to pursue a career in family law. Jennifer has dedicated her entire career to family law and estate planning, beginning in law school, and has handled hundreds of cases throughout her career.

Jennifer primarily focuses her practice on family formation matters including adoption, surrogacy and donor agreements, assisted reproduction, guardianship, conservatorship, and marital agreements involving complex, high asset divorces. Jennifer is especially experienced in handling stepparent, kinship, and custodial adoptions. She has successfully handled numerous multi-day, contested adoption trials, and has assisted judges in navigating adoption cases. Additionally, Jennifer is a skilled marital agreement and estate planning attorney, having drafted hundreds of marital agreements and cohabitation agreements, trust documents, wills, and other key estate planning instruments such as medical and financial power of attorneys and living wills. Jennifer also assisted the Colorado Estate Planning Orange Book committee in the creation of the Marital Agreement form. During Jennifer’s litigation practice she has handled numerous military divorce matters, successfully argued both for and against military survivor benefits, and has an excellent track record of assisting clients in navigating survivor benefits in divorce cases. Lastly, Jennifer has significant experience in guardianship and conservatorship matters.

Jennifer is adept at handling all types of family law cases including issues of surrogacy and donor agreements, assisted reproduction matters, guardianship/conservatorship, parenting time, divorces with complex financial matters, divorces involving premarital agreements, third party allocation of parental responsibilities, grandparents’ rights, and military divorce matters.

In law school, Jennifer served as the founding member and president of the Member of the Military Advocacy Law Society, a member of the Family Law Legal Society, Child Abuse and Neglect Clinic, and served as the Social Club Chair for the Student Bar Association. Jennifer is currently a member of the Public Policy Committee with the Kempe Foundation and is a member of the Family Law Bar Association and Estate Planning Bar Association. Throughout her practice, Jennifer has volunteered for Metro Volunteer Lawyers, Colorado Lawyers Committee, Guardianship and Power of Attorney Clinic, Wills for Heros, and Veteran Benefits Free Legal Clinic.
